Hoo are you? #27

I'm a day late, but decided to play anyway.

1. Did you make any New Year's Revolutions?
I don't make New Year's Revolutions. I feel that most don't last, so it's best to make changes and start on things when you are thinking of them and when you feel it's best.  That doesn't mean I don't have goals for 2011 though.

2. What are some goals you have for 2011?
I posted a bit about my goals already.  One, I've signed up for a half-marathon for this year.  I'm also planning to train for a short-triathlon.  Both of these I couldn't really start training for until 2011. (I can't start swimming till we open the pool and I had to take weeks off from running in Dec. due to being sick).  I also plan to start learning HTML (again).

3. What is something that you got for Christmas?
My absolute favorite give was the Garmin Forerunner 305.  I love it so far! I love seeing my mile splits, I love tracking my heart rate. I love everything about it, so far.

4. Did you see any good movies over the holiday season?
I didn't watch many movies or tv, for that matter.

5. Do you do your own taxes or have someone do them for you?
We buy software and then the Husband does them. Lucky me, I don't even touch them, other than to sign my name where I'm told.

Hoo are you #24

NightOwlCrafting

Here are this week's questions!

1. Name 5 things you are grateful for!
I think friends and family are both a given.  I'm also thankful for my dog, Myla.  She's such a cutie.
I'm thankful for friends who know what I'm currently going through and "feel my pain".  I'm thankful that after 3.5 years I'm finally going to be getting custom bookshelves in my library, I think I've been pretty darn patient.  I'm thankful that Husband and I both have jobs and spend money wisely, so that the current state of America hasn't impacted us too much. Along with this last one, I'm thankful that most of those I know and love haven't been impacted too much either.

2. What is you favorite dish at Thanksgiving dinner?
Personally, I think I must be the only person who isn't fond of traditional Thanksgiving food.  Turkey?  No thanks.  Gravy? Never. Mashed potatoes? I liked mashed potatoes but am very picky about them, which means that I don't like most mashed potatoes.  Green beans? I'll eat 'em, but don't love them.  Pumpkin pie? No thanks.

3. Do you have any family traditions for Thanksgiving?
When I was in grade school, wish I knew what age we started this, but my parents and sisters and I started going to the zoo with a friend of the family.  That was a long long time ago and I'm happy to report that we still do it.  Now, I don't always go. Some years it's just too hard for me.  Other years I've had Thanksgiving at my house and spent the morning preparing.  This year, I think I'll be skipping it again. I've kinda been in a ba-humbug mood about the holidays.  Once I have a kid, I'll be sure to go every year, but for now, I think I'll skip it.

4. Are you staying home or traveling for Thanksgiving?
I'm traveling in the sense that I have to go to two different houses for Thanksgiving meals, but not traveling outside of my city.   We have lunch at my Grandparents and then dinner with the in-laws.

5. What else do you do on Thanksgiving day besides eat?
Well - see above for Thanksgiving traditions.  Otherwise, that's about it. I'm sure Husband watched football, but that's not my thing.

HOOOOOOOOO ARE YOU?
HOOOO HOOOO!

Helllloooo fellow HOOOOOTS! Welcome to another week of

HOO ARE YOU?

Thanks to Robyn from Craft With Me for all the questions you will be seeing for the next several months!

Here are this week's questions.

1. Name two things you consider yourself to be very good at.
Reading and procrastination.  I'm not proud of the procrastination part of it, but I don't think anybody would argue with me.

2. Name two things you consider yourself to be very bad at.
Sewing and returning phone calls.  I keep attempting to sew stuff, but it's usually not pretty.  I can only assume I'll get better at it the more I do it.  As far as returning phone calls...I'm just bad at it.  I would rather text or email or just see you in person.

3. Do you believe everything happens for a reason?
Can I plead the 5th?  I guess for the most part I feel people say that and think that because it's a way to feel better about a situation.  Heck, even I say it and think that at times. Perhaps it is a copying mechanism, perhaps things really do happen for a reason though.

4. What is something you have eaten lately that you shouldn't have?
Don't even talk to me about Halloween candy....

5. Do you think the time should change or leave it alone?
I think we should leave it alone. I really don't think there is any purpose or point to it anymore. All it does is mess with kids (and adults) sleeping schedules.

Hooo are you #21

NightOwlCrafting

1. What is the most physically painful thing that has ever happened to you?
I would have to say a herniated disk. I didn't have surgery for it either, so this is one injury that continues to give me trouble if I don't keep my back strengthened (one reason I work out as much as I do).  If you have never had a herniated disk, it is the worst pain I have ever felt (worse than my heal fracture and that was (and still is) painful.   I went from running 40 min one day, to waking up with a hurt back and being able to walk for a max of 5 min.  It took me almost 2 years to be able to run with no back pain.  It took almost 1 year to be able to sleep with little to no pain.

2. What would you name your next child or if you don't have any your first child?
My favorite girls name was Isabella or Jordan Isabella.  However, due to Twilight, I think Isabella is going to be way to common and won't use it for a kids name anymore.  I still love Jordan for a girl.  My favorite guys name is Jackson.

3. If you could add one feature to your car, what would you choose?
I wish I had heated seats.  Or a button to open my trunk on my keychain. or remote start.  Oh wait..you only wanted one feature?

4. If you named your house (or car or computer) what would you name it?
I find myself calling my car zoom zoom, because it's a Mazda, and I'm (insert sarcasm) incredibly creative when it comes to names.

5. What is your dream occupation?
My dream job, and one that I don't see ever happening because of the huge bookstores in my town, is to own a bookstore that only sells mysteries.  (Ok..there is one of these in my town but I don't like it and never shop there).  I have a name for it, I have ideas for what I would do with it (including an annual Halloween party where you come dressed as your favorite mystery book character).  I've written down everything I've come up with for this store, but alas, it's only a dream.  I just don't think it would ever make any money, not with Borders and Barnes and Noble all over STL.

Hoo are you?

NightOwlCrafting

Hoo are you is hosted by Night Owl crafting, click on the picture above to go to their website and play along.

This week's questions and my answers:

1. How many times a year do you get your hair cut?
I'm actually in the process of growing my hair out, well, longer.  Right now I get it cut every 8 weeks.  Once I get it the length I want it, I'll probably go every 10 -12 weeks.

2. Where is the worst place to be stuck waiting?
In line..anywhere. I get impatient, especially when I don't have a book to read.

3. What are your favorite pizza toppings?
Mushrooms and Onions..hands down. If I have to share the pizza with Husband, he doesn't like onions so I don't get those. At least I can usually talk him into sausage instead of pepperoni, then I end up picking off a lot of the sausage.

4. What's your favorite thing about where you live?
I love all the old neighborhoods.  St. Louis doesn't have a great downtown, but we have a lot of old neighborhoods with charm.  Central West End is full of fun little independent shops and some restaurants, surrounded by huge, beautiful homes.  Same with Lafayette Square. Baileys Chocolate Bar is located in Lafayette square, best chocolate martini's in town if you ask me.  I've done the house tour in Lafayette square, it's a lot of fun.   Dogtown is an old Irish neighborhood.    The Hill is another area with small, cute houses and good Italian restaurants.  Webster Groves has a great atmosphere and beautiful homes, some of which were part of the Underground railroad.

5. What's your favorite fruit? Veggie?
My favorite fruit are strawberries. Love strawberries.  Veggie..not much of a veggie person. I suppose I would have to go with mushrooms, or maybe corn.

Hoo Are you?

NightOwlCrafting

Here are this weeks questions and answers to Hoo are you? hosted by Night Owl Crafting.  If you would like to join in on the fun, please visit their blog for the rules.

1.What was your favorite meal growing up?
I loved, and still love, toasted ravioli.  Never had toasted ravioli?  Head to St. Louis and get some!

2. What's your favorite month?
Hmm..this is a hard one. I want to say October because it's my birthday month and Halloween, but I do love the summer months because they are nice and warm.

3. What store is most represented in your wardrobe?
Tough! Probably The Limited since I have several pairs of their pants and tops.  However there are a handful of stores I normally shop at and they could probably all tie for this one.

4. How many times do you go to the movie theater each month/year?
Previous to this year, it was only once or twice a year.  However this year I've been going to the movies almost once a month with a friend.

5. Fill in the blank- I've never been able to: raise only one eyebrow at a time. It looks so cool, I wish I could, but I can't.

Hoo are you?

I've seen the blog Night Owl Crafting before, but never had time to really play around with it.  Then I found it again via Slipstitches and More.  This time I had fun to look around and decided this would be a fun weekly event to take part in.  Plus, it's owls.  How could I pass up something with cute owls?

NightOwlCrafting

Here's the idea..it's a fun way to get to know other bloggers out there, most with a crafting feel to them.  I haven't shown you much of my crafting side but there's more in the works.   You can read more about this weekly party over at Night Owl Crafting.

This weeks questions and my answers are:

1. How tall are you? How tall do you WISH you were?
I'm roughly 5'6".  I would love to be closer to 6' but at the same time I'm actually happy with my height.  I know, I contradict myself. It's just that my Mom's side of the family are all taller..several 6' or taller.  I always feel short around them.  However, Husband is only about an inch taller than me and we are both taller than everyone else in his family.  So..sometimes I feel short and sometimes I feel tall. I would just like to always feel tall. haha

2. Do you have a birthmark? Where?
Not really.

3. What is your biggest money waster?
Seeing as how this is a green blog and I'm working on eliminating waste...of all kinds, I had to really think about this one.  I don't know if this is my biggest money waster, but it's something that annoys me a lot.  Kleenexes.  I know..we all use them.  I use them a lot since I have bad allergies.  However every time I use one and throw it away I feel like it's a waste of money. I suppose I could use a handkerchief, but there's just something that keeps me from doing that. Probably the idea of all those germs staying in the hanky and getting everywhere.

4. What song are you tired of?
I normally listen to audio books when I'm in the car by myself and for music I listen to bands I know I like, which means I don't listen to the radio very often.  So while there aren't any songs i'm tired of, because of this, I must admit that I'm really really tired of hearing about Kate Perry and Lady Gaga and the songs of theirs I have heard..I can't stand.

5. What stresses you out most?

Busy weekends.  Busy weekends really stress me out. If I have a lot going on, that means I don't have a lot of time to clean and relax.  Then I get stressed because I need to clean, but I want to curl up with a good book. If I do one, I neglect the other.
